PROM NIGHT TIPS:

1. Don't make a bad color choice.
We talk a lot about color and how it's a good idea to go bright with your dress.
There are limitations.
The most important thing is to make sure to pick the right color for you skin.
It is by complementing your skin tone that the rest of your hard work and decisions will glow.
2. Length matters.
Although this season is all about showing some leg, it isn't about having too high of a skirt or ending up with too long of a skirt.
Make sure that you are comfortable with the length of your dress and take into consideration the height of your heels.
It is better to get a dress that is longer than you like so that you may make alterations if need be.

3. Don't forget to accessorize.
Accessories can definitely make your prom look completely stunning!
It's your night to shine and here is your chance to do so.
Do it with either earrings, a necklace, a bracelet, a hair piece, etc.
Remember to not over do it, but have just enough to make yourself feel Hollywood glamorous.

4. Don't fight your locks.
You know how it goes.
Those who have curly hair want it straight and those that have straight hair want it curly. Not matter if yours is naturally curly or straight, you should style your hair accordingly. Since you can't mess with mother nature, why not enhance it?

5. Don't over style.
Whether it be your hair or the choice of your dress and accessories, don't over do it.
Too much of a good thing can turn bad.
It may be important to you to be trendy and we agree, but having too many trends for one night out can be too much.
Rather, pick one or two of your favorite spring trends and from there create a look of your own.

6. Don't forget your manners.
Whether you want to believe it or not, manners and etiquette are highly important when it comes to prom and other social events of the such.
You don't want to come across as rude or inconsiderate of others feelings.
Most manners are common sense and are already instilled in you.
If you are known for not being the most polite or orderly date, please review over a list of what to do and what not to do in a social outing.

7. Don't be late!
Prom night is definitely a night that everyone tends to get carried away with.
Not that those involved shouldn't be excited, but time is a concern that needs to be number one.
All that hard work to get a schedule ready shouldn't go to waste. Get to your location 10-15 minutes ahead of time.
You don't want to cause the rest of your prom group to wait on you and you surely don't want to be left behind.

8. Don't do anything last minute.
It's easy to become pressured into making ourselves think that if we just added something extra or redid some of our makeup that it will be absolutely perfect.
Stop before you start to do this!
Most likely you already look in tip-top shape and don't need to fix anything, especially if time is an issue.
Since we know our bodies and see ourselves in the mirror everyday, it is common for us to think we don't look our absolute best because we know what that looks like.
This doesn't mean that other people don't think that you aren't already gorgeous.
By making last minute changes, things tend to go array and disasters are born.
This is something you want to avoid.

MAKE UP TIPS:
For being the most glamourous lady on prom night! Are you ready girl? ;D

Foundation for Prom
Getting ready for prom can be exhilerating, but remember that this is supposed to be fun!
And you want your skin to look its best, so make sure to find a good foundation for the big night. If you're not used to wearing makeup, try a tinted moisturizer.
This will give your skin a sheer coverage with a very natural look.
Make sure to use a tinted moisturizer on a cleansed face and blend well into the throat for a natural, fresh look.
If you're a makeup pro, try to find a moderate coverage foundation and apply to cleansed face and throat area.
Make sure to blend, blend, blend!
Most important: find a color that matches your skin tone and use a bronzer for color.

Using Eyeliner Correctly
Here's a little secret...eyeliner should be used to accentuate the lash line, not for color on the eyelid.
If you have dark features, use a navy or deep brown liner (black makes eyes look tired) just above the lash line.
If you have lighter features, try a deep brown.
Then smudge outwards with your fingertip or eyeliner brush.
Follow with a complimentary-colored mascara and don't forget to curl lashes BEFORE applying mascara!
This will give your eyes a natural look with outstanding lashes!

Sexy Eyes For Prom
Want to do a sultry look?
Try an all over neutral color with a sheer black shadow in the crease and bottom of lid.
Blend from the outer corner of eye to the inner.
Use a bronze or silver shimmer all over to blend evenly and give eyes a sexy look!
Try putting a little shimmer under the eye for a more dramatic effect.
Shimmer is in! Don't want to go dramatic?
Try using a trio of browns that have a shimmer to them.
Remember to blend evenly, from the eyelash line to the brow line.

Shimmer, Not Glitter!
Getting ready for prom? With all those gorgous dresses and pretty faces to contend with, you'll want to be the one who stands out!
Find a body dusting powder or a bronzer with shimmer in it and dust lightly over shoulder and neck area.
Even it out by putting some on your arms and on the back of your neck if your hair is up. Shimmer powders will look more natural under prom lights than body gels with glitter.
Glitter makes you look young, shimmer will keep you shining bright!

Pucker up for prom!
You want your lips to look powerful the night of prom.
One key tip is to make sure you exfoliate your lips before applying lipstick.
Apply exfoliator to your lips and use finger in a circular motion to get rid of dry, chapped skin. Try one with peppermint oil to help revitalize tired and dried up lips.
Then, apply a lip liner and soften the look with you finger or lipbrush.
Apply a great gloss with fingers or lipbrush... dab instead of rubbing across lips, this will keep the shine!

Natural Looking Makeup
Want to have perfect makeup for prom?
Always remember to use a brush appropriate for the product application.
Use a large, puffy brush for loose/pressed powder application.
Use a blush brush for blush and have at least two different sized shadow brushes, preferrably one large for all over color and blending and one smaller for the crease and lower lid.
Makeup application with brushes looks much more natural for prom than fingers or tiny applicators alone!

"Set" Your Makeup
You've got your dress, shoes, and your date.
Your prom tickets are carefully tucked in your evening bag.
Your makeup is beautiful and the colors you choose look great.
But with all the prom pictures about to take place, and the hours of dancing under the bright disco lights, you need to set your look so your makeup isn't ruined.
Find a loose, translucent(sheer) powder and dust lightly over entire face and throat area with a powder brush to "set" makeup once look is finished.

BEAUTY TIPS.
Let's talk about vintage make-up, hair-dos and fashion in this post.
Hope you do enjoy!
It's gonna be the 1960s. [:

MAKE UP (1960s)

In the 1960s, its' a trend for them to make a great focus on the pair of pretty eyes.
How does it goes?
For a simple & casual look:
  • Dramatic eyes, featuring mascara used heavily, producing spiked lashes.
  • Shadow is colored or dark.
  • Skin is pale, often from foundation or powder called "translucent."
  • Lips are pale or glittering, rarely showing dark shades.

For a evening make-up look:

  • Woman put up more of these 1960s make-up in the night.
  • Focus for this evening look would be : yes, again it's the eyes.
  • You probably wouldn't wear false eyelashes but yes, the blue and green eye shadow would be among your make up tools.

WHAT DO YOU NEED?

To get the effect of a 1960 looks. You gotta be sure that your cosmetic case do have the following things:

  • Pale lipstick; to get the lok of a pale lips.
  • Sheer make-up; shimmering, translucent, expressive.
  • Brightener(highlighter); eye shadow sticks whereby tones can be misty white or beige.

The very IMPORTANT FOCUS: EYES.

The eyes were the focal point of the 1960s face.

  • Great long heavily mascared eyelashes, often supplemented with false lashes.
  • Eye shadows in the blues, greens and browns. A dark crease.
  • Eye liner was dark, often black, and thick. If you have a party to go to, I have provided several closeups of Sixties eye make up so you can replicate the look.
  • Believe it on not, the bottom look was specifically advertised for day. "City Day.
  • Take two tones of smoke shadow and drift the lighter gray around the inner corner of your eye, under lower lashes and straight up and out to your hairline.
  • Swirl the darker dusky smoke on your upper lid, just up to the crease."
  • Two steps in applying the eye make up seen in the finished face at right.
  • The products for the Demi-Makeup included: Eyes Translucent Brow Lightener, Liquid Liner, Powered eyeshadow.
  • Eyeliner helped create the dark, dramatic eyes of the 1960s.

HAIR DOS (1960s)

  • Curls were all the rage. Big deep ones, small tight ones and even spit curls.
  • Long hair was swept to one side and secured with a band or a ribbon. Perhaps a swatch of hair
  • teen was more likely to wear her hair loose and long than her older contemporaries.
